N415 teaches prelicensure nursing students to read research, judge the strength of evidence and bring it into practice, with attention to nurse-sensitive quality indicators.

The short version

Send the exact assignment or rubric from your classroom and a custom N415 sample written to it lands in 24 to 48 hours, the first one free. N415 is Aspen’s Research / Evidence-Based Practices course. It centers on the research process and its qualitative and quantitative methods, the types and levels of evidence, integrating evidence into practice, nurse-sensitive quality indicators, implementation and evaluation, dissemination and the informatics that support evidence use. Searches like "N415 module 3 assignment example", "N415 sample paper", and "N415 module samples" land on this page.

What N415 is really about

N415 asks a new question of nursing students: not only what to do for a patient but how we know it works. The course walks through the research process, from question to method to findings, and teaches students to tell a well-designed study from a weak one and a systematic review from an opinion.

The practical thread is nurse-sensitive quality: outcomes such as falls, pressure injuries and infections that change when nursing care changes. Students learn to connect a practice problem to a searchable question, find the evidence, weigh it and plan how a unit might use it.

What N415’s assessments ask for

Expect a PICOT question with a documented search, critiques of a quantitative and a qualitative article, a levels-of-evidence table, an appraisal of a systematic review, a paper on a nurse-sensitive quality indicator and a short implementation and evaluation plan.

Where students lose points in N415

Students lose marks by summarizing articles instead of critiquing them, by confusing research design with level of evidence, by writing PICOT questions that are too broad to search, and by recommending practice changes the evidence does not support.

The N415 drawers

Module 1

N415 Module 1 assignment example

A research process paper that starts from a bubble humidifier on every nasal cannula on a medical unit and follows one published study, a 2024 survey of 243 hospital nurses on low-flow oxygen and humidification, from its question and framework through design, sampling, instrument testing, ethics, analysis and findings, then says what the findings can and cannot tell a unit. Module 2

N415 Module 2 assignment example

A critique of the Oxyrea trial, a nurse-led randomized non-inferiority study in nine French intensive care units comparing dry with bubble-humidified oxygen: purpose and hypothesis, the 20% non-inferiority margin, sample and attrition, open-label allocation, a new 15-item discomfort scale, the inconclusive primary result, the flow-rate subgroups, and what the findings mean for a medical unit. Module 3

N415 Module 3 assignment example

A critique of a Dutch interview study of 14 oxygen-naive patients with severe COPD and what they expected from home oxygen: fit of the qualitative descriptive design, purposive sampling and one mistaken inclusion, interviews partly led by the participants' own physician, coding by a single researcher after the first four transcripts, saturation, trustworthiness, whether the quotes support the four themes, and use for discharge teaching. Module 4

N415 Module 4 assignment example

A PICOT question on removing bubble humidifiers from nasal cannula oxygen at 4 liters a minute or less for adult medical inpatients, with each element explained, search terms and subject headings, a line-by-line PubMed log with the real record counts on September 30, 2026, a Europe PMC search that caught a trial PubMed missed, screening of the results and a table of the sources kept with their levels of evidence. Full sample paper, read it free.

Module 5

N415 Module 5 assignment example

A levels-of-evidence paper that ranks every source found on humidifying low-flow oxygen, from a meta-analysis to a nurse survey and an interview study, explains why level and quality are different things, and appraises a 2017 meta-analysis of 27 randomized trials and 8,876 patients domain by domain with AMSTAR 2, from its question and six-database search to its risk of bias, pooling and applicability. Module 6

N415 Module 6 assignment example

A nurse-sensitive quality indicator paper on failure to rescue: what makes an indicator nurse-sensitive, Silber's 1992 definition, the Needleman and Aiken staffing studies with their numbers, a composite medical patient whose oxygen need climbed from 2 to 5 liters overnight while her saturation stayed in range, how the indicator is measured and where it falls short, and the nursing actions it points to. Module 7

N415 Module 7 assignment example

An implementation and evaluation plan to stop routine bubble humidification for adults on nasal cannula oxygen at 4 liters a minute or less on a 32-bed medical unit, using the revised Iowa Model: the change and its exceptions, the team, what a 2026 survey of 132 staff says about resistance, de-adoption strategies, a 16-week pilot timeline, an evaluation table of process, outcome and balancing measures, and the rules for adopting, adapting or stopping. Module 8

N415 Module 8 assignment example

A dissemination and informatics paper for the dry low-flow oxygen pilot: audiences and messages in a table from bedside nurses to patients and the wider profession, huddles, a unit poster and a practice council report, a conference abstract held until results exist, and the electronic health record changes that hold the practice in place, an order set default, flowsheet rows pairing oxygen flow with every saturation, audit reports and the risks of alert fatigue. Using a N415 sample the right way

Read a finished N415 paper for how it moves from a clinical question to a judgment about evidence. The articles you critique will differ, so focus on the method of appraisal rather than the specific findings.

N415 questions, answered

Do I need a statistics background for N415?

No. Aspen's N415 introduces the research process; you need to interpret common statistics such as p values and confidence intervals rather than calculate them.

What counts as the highest level of evidence in N415?

For questions about interventions, systematic reviews of randomized trials usually rank highest, but the best evidence depends on the question type.

Does N415 require a PICOT question?

Many N415 assignments use one. Check the prompt in your classroom for the required format and the number of sources.
