Send the exact assignment or rubric from your classroom and a custom N437 sample written to it lands in 24 to 48 hours, the first one free. N437 is Aspen’s Healthcare Informatics course. It centers on foundational informatics concepts including theory and models, the use of systems in different settings, quality and usability standards, legal, ethical and regulatory implications, consumer health technology, emerging technologies and a student presentation on an informatics topic. What N437 is really about
Every nurse now works inside information systems, from the electronic health record to bar-code medication administration and patient portals. N437 asks students to understand those systems rather than simply use them: where data come from, how they become information and knowledge, and how poor design can harm patients as surely as poor practice.
The course is writing intensive. Students examine the theory behind informatics, judge systems against usability standards, work through the law and ethics of health data and consider how consumer technology and emerging tools are changing care. It ends with a presentation on a topic each student chooses.
What N437’s assessments ask for
Expect papers applying an informatics model to a nursing workflow, an evaluation of a clinical system's usability, a paper on privacy and regulation, analyses of consumer health technology and emerging tools, and a presentation with speaker notes.
Where students lose points in N437
Students lose marks by describing technology features without linking them to patient care, by treating privacy law vaguely, by overstating what emerging tools can do and by presenting topics without evidence.
The N437 drawers
N437 Module 1 assignment example
The data, information, knowledge and wisdom framework applied to one nursing workflow, the morning weights of a composite 72-year-old man with heart failure on a medical-surgical unit: four raw numbers, a trend that turned out to include a scale change, what a case-control study says weight gain means, and the nurse's decision to reweigh, call and teach. N437 Module 2 assignment example
A sociotechnical analysis of why a Spanish-speaking composite patient went home from a medical-surgical unit with discharge instructions printed only in English: the problem traced through all eight dimensions of the Sittig and Singh model in a table, from the registration field that never reached the printing logic to workflow, policy, regulation and measurement, with fixes in several dimensions. Full sample paper, read it free.
N437 Module 3 assignment example
Bar-code medication administration and its workarounds on a composite medical-surgical unit after the pharmacy changed label printers and IV bag labels stopped scanning: what the technology prevents with the error figures from a 14,041-dose study, the workaround the unit invented, the taxonomy of workaround types and causes, why nurses work around, the risks, and a fix aimed at causes rather than at nurses. Full sample paper, read it free.
N437 Module 4 assignment example
A heuristic usability review of a composite blood transfusion documentation screen on a medical-surgical unit: ten usability heuristics applied to what nurses see and click, a table of problems with severity ratings, why usability is a safety issue, what a multi-site study found about variation in clicks, time and errors, and redesign recommendations. Full sample paper, read it free.
N437 Module 5 assignment example
Privacy, security and the law for nurses, worked through a composite night-shift nurse who photographed a sacral wound on her personal phone and texted it to the wound care nurse: what the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules require, why the 2013 changes matter for a lost phone, what a survey of trainees found about personal phones, social media risks, state board consequences and a secure alternative. Full sample paper, read it free.
N437 Module 6 assignment example
Consumer health technology through electronic symptom self-reporting for patients receiving chemotherapy: a composite 58-year-old woman reporting nausea at home through an app, what a randomized trial of 766 patients found about quality of life, emergency visits and survival, the nurse's role in answering alerts, the gaps for patients who cannot or do not use portals, and what a unit or clinic must build for the benefits to reach everyone. Full sample paper, read it free.
N437 Module 7 assignment example
An emerging technology in nursing, wearable wireless sensors that monitor vital signs continuously on general wards: how they work and what they replace, a composite night on a medical-surgical unit where a sensor flagged a rising heart rate, what a systematic review, a pilot study and a before-and-after study found, alarm burden, nursing workflow, equity and cost questions, and what a unit should ask before adopting. Full sample paper, read it free.
N437 Module 8 assignment example
An informatics topic presentation in slides with speaker notes on patient room whiteboards moving from marker boards to digital screens fed by the electronic record: why whiteboards matter, what a survey of 253 clinicians and a before-and-after study found, what a digital board can pull from the record, accuracy, privacy and workflow risks, a pilot design for a medical-surgical unit and a request. Full sample paper, read it free.

Using a N437 sample the right way
Read a finished N437 paper for how it connects a system or concept to a nurse's work and a patient's safety. The technology you write about may differ, so the value is in the analysis.
N437 questions, answered
Is N437 offered online?
Aspen's catalog states that N437 is not offered online; check your campus schedule.
Do I need technical skills for N437?
No programming is expected. The course asks you to understand and evaluate systems nurses use, and to write about them clearly.
What topics suit the N437 presentation?
Topics that matter to nursing practice, such as alarm management, telehealth, clinical decision support or patient portals, with evidence behind them.
